24008943
Hi, did post original issue on main board, but thought it would be of interest to Eco owners mainly. Had this warning message pop up a few times, had some good responses that it was a battery prob ,had it checked out with a meter that showed although the alternator was putting a good charge in, it was only holding 20% of the charge. So it was a case of keep having to charge the battery or get a newbie, seems they only seem to last 3\5 years now, mines 3.5 although i never use stop/start which i assume drains it . Had one fitted at Halfords, seems they only do 3 types for the Eco,their own brand @£152 approx 270.000 starts ,a Yuasa @£103 approx 50,000 starts ( their figures !), as i don't use stop/start i had the Yuasa. Glad i had it fitted ,it was a nightmare for the fitter to remove, poorly designed he said. Was nigh impossible to see what battery Ford had fitted (below) as its well boxed in,got it off and the Ford part no. is 2033186 Varta V022A ( dread to think what Ford would charge for one ),also Eco's need a H6 size it seems. Eric Bloodaxe
That looks very like the one fitted to my previous Fiesta 1.
alexp999
You still fitted an EFB though right? Yuasa make Halfords batteries, so the spec is usually identical. Even if you don't use stop/start you must still fit an EFB battery as that's what the charging system is expecting and will have the profile for. 24008943
Hi , ta for the postings, have sold me the wrong type, they said its s correct type after i gave my reg number 😤
alexp999
It should be an EFB100. Your charging system will ruin that battery, it will shorten it's life as it is expecting an EFB. https://www.tayna.co.uk/car-batteries/types/100-efb/ Halford's EFB100 is the same as the YBX7100

It can be done with a button and pedal combination in the car and it makes the battery light flash three times. Can also be done through the OBD port.

If he's fitted an 075 size battery as in your pic that's even more wrong than I initially thought. There'll be a big empty space in your battery box now.

24008943
Thanks guys for the great info, you most likely saved me a load of hassle later👍🏻 Shot up to Halfords and had a pop at them, but as it was online order/info on what batttery was ok , they were apologetic and said if i had enquired at the store they would have sold me the correct one...ummm! It was a worse fitting battle than last time as its a biggie, thought he was going to cause damage, cannot that bar across the front of the battery ,attached to the positive post with losdsa wiring ,not be completly removed at all, instead of just being forced to one side ? Anyway am banging a complaint in about their incorrect website info, pillocks😡 Thank gawd you guys are on the ball with top advice, thanks again. Attached the newbie.
