cat converter only done 38,000 miles

my grand c max 1.0 has only done 38,000 and ford tell me that the cat needs replacing.

Why?  Is there another fault that's damaged it? 

If it's a manufacturing defect, it should be covered under warranty.

The engine warning light appeared i took it to a ford dealership and they said the cat will soon need to be replaced.

Ah, in that case it's not uncommon for the cat to clog up on the 1.0EB.

Low mileage means it's probably spent a lot of time in traffic rather than being driven on the motorway.

Well i got fed up resetting the engine light telling me the cat is on way out,so ive booked in to have it done nearly £900.00 for the privilege,whats next to go wrong.
