StephenFord
I was watering some plants in front garden, as my neighbours daughter drove past & waved. I did a bit of pottering, returning 10 minutes later, and she was just getting out of her car LOL Her mum displays the same behaviour. Any man I know, including myself, when they have reached their destination, they simply alight the vehicle and get out! Can someone enlighten me what women do when they arrive at where they want? 🤣 1

TomsFocus
Not just females but a lot around here make phone calls through the cars bluetooth...totally unaware that the door Speakers are clearly transmitting the conversation to everyone within a quarter mile radius.
Jimpster
They have to get their handbags off the choke lever, and check on their slap so they are presentable. 1

My 1st ever car (a Datsun 120Y) had a choke lever, I also remember driving an original Mini, a Triumph Dolomite, and a old Fiat 500, all with choke levers - I miss them LOL
jsk
I'm 81 and can still remember the little rubber foot pump for the windscreen washer. Better still I had a Morris 10 that had a hand cranked pump in the engine bay with a selector switch that you could use to select what wheel you wanted to lift off the ground via a hydraulic jack. What I wouldn't give for one of those now on my car.

I fear we are in danger of repeating all the non politically correct old jokes here. On no account mention opening the door to let the clutch out!

LOL Exactly how old are you 😂 Now you've got me trying to remember the last car I had with a manual choke. It was probably in the late 80s when most non-fuel injected petrols had got auto chokes. These were so reliable (much like start/stop nowadays) many people fitted a manual choke conversion anyway - I remember doing a Mk 1 Astra and a Mk 3 Escort about then. Certainly every car I had through the 70's and early/mid-80s still had a (standard) manual choke, including 3 Minis, a Mk 1 Cortina, an MG Midget, Mk 1 Escort, Triumph Toledo, Mk 1 Fiesta, Mk 3 Triumph Spitfire and Mini Metro.

alanfp
I was amazed when I got my first fuel-injected motorbike that it had a choke lever. I thought the salesman was pulling my leg, but he wasn't! (Honda VFR800 if you're wondering).

In fact the only thing you can be sure of is that the window is open." That one???

No😃 but that reminded me about hand signals which were no longer part of the UK driving test from 1975 (May, I think). I had to do them when I took mine and it was raining so my right arm got soaked! I'm sure the examiner kept me doing them longer than necessary, but he passed me so I forgive him! 1
