(Weren't we discussing this on another thread some time back?) The people we were dealing with was Phillips (now Conoco-Phillips) and they do have a retail brand now (Jet) which I think they acquired early 2000s. Still supply the wholesale market as well though, afaik.
Paulkp
I use a very local independent "service Station", so we are on first name terms. Prices competitive, they put the fuel in, and their Magnums are cheap. And when the next fuel crisis comes along, we will get more fuel than the strangers..... I can also borrow tools !

Jim H
Getting back on topic. I do drive slightly out of my way to buy petrol. I always use Shell fuels and have their loyalty card. I drive 6 miles to a place near Middlesbrough and fill up 9 or 10p /l cheaper than the Shell in my town. Looking on Petrolprices site it's currently 138.9p/l in Shell and I think 148.9p/l or 147p/l. at Shell in my town. However when I fill up I normally combine it with either going to my Bank Branch and/or to Tesco.
Jim H
I have just found this chap who normally posts vids of the history of different Motorways, but occasionally posts about other motoring related things. Today has posted this vid about if it is worth traveling out of your way to find cheaper fuel. He has also posted a vid about the true Ethanol content of E10 fuels. The results were surprising.

Pigeon12
Seems a bit of an extreme example though, in my case I would have to travel/divert mabye 2 miles for a cheaper petrol station. This guys on about doing a roadtrip to timbuktu lol

iantt
I would drive 40 miles from Morton in marsh just to get away from that dump. 🤣🤣
kingarthur83rd
I have been known to go out of my way for cheaper fuel. (though in terms of mileage/time it about the same one way or the other. I live on the border of wigan/warrington and its around 8? miles to get to warrington shell/24hr Tesco at Halliwell Jones, and about 6 miles to Marus Bridge in Wigan theres a Shell near me (Marus Bridge) that, whilst its super convenient to get to, charges, I want to say, around 20p a litre more for V-Power than most of the other garages that dispenses V-Power in the area. I Understand why as its literally the last fuel stop before getting on to the M6, with quite a lot of traffic going down the dual carriageway. I have been known to drive into Warrington, solely based on the fact that V-Power is so much cheaper, with the option of Momentum99 if its the end of the month, 😏🤣🤣🤣

Yeah J23 is Haydock, couple of junctions down. there is a Shell on Haydock Island, too, but its always been a PITA to get to. Marus Bridge Shell is on the A49 Dual Carriageway, leading in to Bryn roundabout to J25 to either join SB to the M6, or exit NB J24 is Ashton, exit SB, Join NB. its a weird set up for both Junctions IMO
