Bad Fuel Economy

Recommended Posts

I have a 2009 ford fiesta titanium 1.4 petrol. I need help for the following problems. My car gets no more than 25mpg car doesnt get ragged including mway journeys. Also the car has slow acceleration than usual takes time to reach 70. Finally, the car starts heating unless the ac is on. Without ac on the temperature reaches 105 and fans come on but with ac on it stays between 65-85.

Disconnect battery, clean the t-map sensor(liquid moly MAF cleaner) and clean throttle body. Lots of YT vids on how too.

Reconnect battery

Run idle for 10 minutes then go for a long drive.

Probably best to fix radiator issues first. Either a sensor or corroded radiator wire connector.

I don't know this car but. Start with air filter then look for vacum leaks causing the聽 fuel trim to compensate. Clean MAF sensor look聽 for corroded sensor wires. Partly sticking injector = fuel rail pressuire test. Should be quite fixable.

Turning the heater blower on full used to be a classic bodge when cars overheated. Does sound like an issue there, possibly thermostat to add to points mentioned.

@unofixwas (probably!馃槂) joking about the last service but a聽bit more about the service history etc could help diagnosis. With a 14 year old car there could be any number of issues聽

A bottle of Cataclean wouldn鈥檛 hurt either.

I'd prefer a decent claret myself - oh, you mean for the car?
