P0093 - Fuel System Leak Large

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a Ford Ranger ET 2007 2.5 TDci 16 valve engine and lately I have a problem with P0093 Fuel System Leak! When I first checked with my OBD2 scanner I had 4 codes which where P0093 - Fuel System Leak Large, P0093 Fuel System Leak Large, P0401 - EGR Flow Insufficient & P0404 - EGR Flow CKT Range/Perf.

The EGR was replaced so now I have 2 codes remaining that are P0093 - Fuel System Leak Large & P0093- Fuel System Leak Large.

The problem is when I start it up in the morning it's ok for about 30 to 40 minutes driving then the engine stalls. I try to start it again and it starts immediately.. Then when I give it a bit of gas the engine stalls again and the same procedure happens again and again. I have checked for any leakage from the fuel tank to the engine and I have already changed the fuel pressure sensor, changed the fuel filter with the lift pump, changed all the fuel hoses near the engine, cleaned the EGR and cleaned the small fuel filter from the main pump. I also have ordered the Fuel regulator control valve but at this point I don't know what to do more and the problem still remains.

Has someone experienced the same problem or can anyone give me more hints on what to do more? Any help is much appreciated.

Hi I've no solution for ya but I've the same problem with mine if you got sorted could you point me in the right direction to start all the mechanics I brought it to won't touch it

Mine is doing the same , changed the diesel filter and it was fine for a few weeks but the issue has returned. Did you find out what has caused it ? Read on a few other places that the fuel lines needed cleaned out.

I also have the same problems in my car. The problems come when it's freezing outside -25°c, I assume the problem is the amount of water or dirt in the fuel system. When spring comes, the first thing I do is clean the fuel tank and breath system. I have cleaned the small filter in the fuel pump and changed the fuel filter every autumn. The problem still occurs in severe frosts. Greetings from Finland

Hi, there is a metal mesh gauze in the banjo bolt that sits on top of the fuel pump, remove the banjo bolt and drill out the mesh. I’ve just had the exact same fault and after I done this it runs no problem now

I have the same problem, only when it's realy cold outside, -17 celcius now, the car starts normal in the morning, but if i dont leave it for a minute to run it will die, after that it takes a few primes (contact on and off) so the pump to prime the sistem. I alwais leave it runing so the oil gets up the engine, but it happend a few times i was in a big hurry that i wanted to leave quick (i didn't after all so from that point, i just wait). This morning i started the car, let it warm up so i can take my son to kindergarden, after i drop him off i drove about 2km in city traffic and at a roundabout i hit the gas a bit harder to exit and the check engine lit up and the car just died, pulled over, put the tester on and the p0093 error came up. I started the car and drove to work but it didnt go over 2500 rpm, i saw that someone here found that drilling the metal mesh from the banjo bolt fixes the problem, but why is that mesh causing it? I mean is good that we can fix the simptom, but i would like to fix the probpem causing it.

Thanks in advance!

Mesh is too fine and gets clogged with wax crystals in the cold weather conditions often reported above???
Is there an additive that prevents this (did they used to add Paraffin but can't risk anything now that may damage HP pump?)
