Andy-Hat
Now I’m undecided,,I’ve ordered a st 170 auto on Thursday but I’m now thinking have I made the right decision or should I change my order to a 200 manual,,I like the auto for when stuck in traffic but the thought of 1.0 against a 1.5,is the 1.5 a lot better engine ect. Eric Bloodaxe
That's a hard one at present as I doubt anyone's yet owned both. Have you managed to get test drives in both? You lose 30ps and 70Nm of torque, add 0.7 secs to the 0-62 time (fwiw) and gain a couple of mpg and a small CO2 reduction. On the engines in general, they're both the revised (chain cam drive) engine, so no wet belt worries. I have to say I personally did find the old wet belt 1.0 engines smoother and mechanically quieter than the new chain cam 1.0 and 1.5. Depends on how much the auto is worth to you, I guess. Pity it's not a matter of the same engine with a choice of boxes which would make things easier. If you wanted the Performance pack, it would have to be 1.5 manual. I was wondering how the ST 170 compared with a 155 plus DCT, but looking at the price list, I see you can't now get a 155 DCT other than in the Vivid Ruby Edition or the ST-Line Vignale, both of which are more than the ST 170.
TomsFocus
If you buy the ST170 you'll spend your life saying 'no, not that one'.
