Drivers rear brake light

Recommended Posts

Hi folks, first time poster so grateful for any help in this one...

I have a 14 plate MK3 Focus Titanium Nav. About four days ago whilst driving I had an on screen notification that a rear light was faulty. Upon inspection I've found it is the drivers side brake light.

All other lights are working fine on drivers side and passenger side, it's just the drivers side brake light which is intermittently working.

Knowing that the other brake lights are working fine I'm for now ruling out any switch/fuse issue.. I've replaced the bulb on the offending lamp and its still intermittently not working.

I've cleaned the contacts on the bulb connector and all looks fine.

Any ideas as to what could be causing this issue and what I could try next to resolve without an expensive trip to a garage?

Thanks

Check you're getting full connection

Hi, thanks for replying. Do you mean check the connection between the bulb and the bulb fitting?

The ground tab in the lamp holder is not protruding far enough out and is not making contact with the side of the bulb.

It just needs eased out a few millimeters with a small screwdriver.
