Now let the discussions begin. How far will this thread drift from the original question I wonder ?
TomsFocus
Almost certainly yes, but if you can post a picture of the engine bay, we can confirm 100%.
Bobr
Thanks for the replies chaps. My daughter is looking to buy one and, as it's already 5 years old, I think this is something that should be taken into consideration.

She needs to factor in a spend of around £1400. If it were me I'd get the work done in the next 2 or 3 years (when vehicle is 8 years old max) then she will have peace of mind for the next 10 once the new belts are fitted. Newbie229
My car is 5 years old and I just got my wet belt done. It didn't have long left. Mileage will be a factor as will servicing history, but if it were me, I'd be getting it done at 6 years old. Just my opinion of course. Good luck with your purchase.
statts
Hi @Bobr Are you sure it's a Puma she is looking at as they didn't go on sale till 2020 in the U.K? Thanks 2

Very well spotted 🤣 earliest registered would be on a 69 plate (Sept 2019) so maximum possible age would be 4 year old (not 5). 1
Eric Bloodaxe
Afaik the current Puma has only used the revised (chain cam) ecoboost from the early 2020 launch: https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/ford/puma/first-drives/ford-puma-st-line-x-2020-uk-first-drive.

Bobr
Believe it or not a Puma it's a Focus. (Women!!!) So the original question now pertains to this car. Does it have a wet belt?

Bobr
Thanks Tom. I'll find out exactly when it was registered.
unofix
Puma, .....Focus...... whats in a name 🤣 To get the best answer it would be better with the registration number, or a full description of the exact car ( I bet she can tell you what colour it is ) and engine. 2018 is a crossover year for the Focus model. The Mk3.5 will have the wetbelt and most of the Mk4 will have timing chains, unless of course she buys a 2.0 diesel 🤣 2

Some Mk3.5s we're still being registered after the Mk4 came out so that won't help us unfortunately. As Unofix says, a quick description of the car, or ideally a photo/sales link is the best way to confirm.

unofix
Very sorry to hear that Bob. I wish her a speedy and fully recovery. I know just how worrying a time it will be for you and your family. My best regards to you all.

Luckily I was with her when she had the stroke and recognised what was happening straight away. I dialled 999 to be told, believe it or not, that an ambulance would be with us in 2 to 3 hours. I had her at the hospital in 10 minutes. Daughter's car is now on the back burner so I'll come back to that in due course.

Just got back from the hospital and she's doing very well. The doctor said that getting her there quickly made all the difference. So much for a 3 hour wait for an ambulance. The run to the hospital brought back a few memories of some runs I've made on blues and twos.
