New Fiesta Mk7 Faults

Hi

I realise that topics like this one are not new and I'm sorry raise to the NEW Fiesta fault issue yet again but, as I have actually ordered one and the build date was last given as the 7th September and delivery will almost certainly be in September, I feel that, in view of all these issues that Fiesta owner's have raised, and despite the fact that after seeking advice a couple of times before and got much encouragement to go ahead and buy the car, I still need convincing about my intention to buy the Fiesta I've ordered.

There are many, many Fiesta owners who have had no faults and are extremely happy with their cars and most have even said that they would not hestitate to buy another one but, there are other owner's who have had some of the issue's described in the links that I have posted below.

One of the latest threads I read was with regard to "Floppy Gear Lever Syndrome OK who's got all the gear linkages" and this can be read in this link:

http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=14896

Some other fault links:

http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=5403

http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=14810

As stated in previous posts, I've owned new Escorts and Fiesta's in 1990's, new Citroen's and new Vauxhalls and my last two cars were Corsa's and I still own a 2008 Corsa SXi. I can honestly say that we have had no problems that were not due to 'wear and tear' and my present Corsa is 2 1/2 years old and has no issue's.

I chose the new Fiesta because I thought it was time to change back to a Ford but after joining these forums to get some info on the car from owner's of them, I have never read about so many issue's relating to one car and there is actually a thread dedicated to NEW Fiesta Faults (above).

I truly like the look and style of the NEW Fiesta and really do want to take delivery of it but, faults like the one's described in the link, should all have been rectified by now but, apparently, many are still being found and, I personally would not be happy if I bought the car in September and then, find that it had faults which meant that I had to continually call/visit my dealer to get them sorted.

I'm sure that there are many happy owners who will not like reading this and, I don't enjoy posting things like this but, the Fiesta obviously has issue's for many owner's and, like many other potential buyers, we need to know what we might be letting ourselves in for.

Regards

Very much doubt if its getting built on 9th sept that you will be getting it in sept too. Expect an October delivery

At the end of the day - any mass produced product is going to have examples with faults. If you get one with a fault - you take it back, simple. This is no reason to reject a car that you have already ordered...

It is frustrating when u have a problem with your pride and joy however don't spoil the excitement of your new car but expecting it 2 have a fault! Think of how many thousands or millions of the new fiesta have been sold and what percentage of these have actually had faults! There may seem a high proportion on forums but that's because most people do only use forums when they have a complaint or a problem with their car, (indeed I first found this forum when I was looking up leaks in the ka) just enjoy your new fiesta, its a fantastic car, I loved driving the 1 I had 2 lend while mine was being fixed. And if there is a prob, take it back! Simples! :-)

As said all mass produced products have good ones and unfortunatly some bads ones, with the vast majority somewhere in the middle. A lot of the issues are from early cars? Note never buy a new model in the 1st 6 months!

The real test is how you are treated by the dealer/manufacturer if problems arise. Unfortunatly this is were you come unstuck with Ford. They are the worst I have come across in 25 years of driving, and that includes some strong competion from a Peugoet dealer in the 1980s. 205s remember them?

Last Fester I had, had an emergency recall for engine mount bolts. Letter from Ford said I had to immediatly take it in. Local dealer couldn't look at it for 2 weeks. Then after having car for a day told me yes it one of the ones affected can you bring it back when we have the parts. Yes I know its one of those effected Ford wrote to me to tell me my car was affect by this recall. You have had it booked in for 2 weeks why didn't you have the parts? F-wits. I also had two new tyres fitted at the same time. One of which they mounted the wrong way, even though it clearly says on the tyres "outside" or "inside", I booked it back in and they left me waiting for 1 1/2 hours then told me their tyre machine wasn't working. The entire garage didn't have the brains between them to stick the wheels in a car and have them balanced at Kwik-Fit or somewhere. When the engine mount recall was done half the wires, pipes and hoses that had been disturbed hadn't been clipped back into position. Much later after a service/warrenty reapir of a belt tensioner I notcied the under bonnent tray was missing. I've been charged for 1xlitre of top up oil that I never recieved after a service.

Ford spend £billions£ on R+D and modern production facilities only to let complete muppets spoil it for them at the customer facing end.....

Even after all that I still got another one?!? but was sorely tempted by other less desirable cars just to be able to never have to walk into a Ford main stealer ever again. After the Peugeot episode in the 80s I've never bought another one, even though over the years they have had some good cars. Now they all look like monsters from the deep so its not too hard to ignore them when looking for a new car.

Bad experiences do last and can cost a dealer/manufacturer lots of repeat sales.

Rant over.

i wouldnt worry,i have been on this forum even before i bought the fiesta, and seen the topics about car faults, and i still bought the fiesta, and am really satisfied with it,no faults at all (knock on wood :) ) i have been looking at vw forums, and seen quite a few problems with the new polo (which is meant to be higher quality than the fiesta)so i wouldnt worry about these threads, you have a 95% chance that you will have a great car with no faults at all,so go for it!!

Do you ever have any positive thoughts? Or are they all doom and gloom?

Why don't you just stick with the Corsa? it has no faults at the moment!

None of us are Mystic Megs and you may, you may not, get problems with your new Fiesta, Who Knows!

Obviously you worry and its maybe a case of better the devil you know then you don't know.

You must be a dealer/shop worst nightmare type of customer.

God I feel like a Prozac now!!

Dave, please just wait until you get the car before you judge it! I've had mine 10 months and not a thing has gone wrong (yet) and if it does, I'll deal with it - these things happen.

I'm surprised you ever leave the house for fear of getting struck by lightning.

Well said Iggle,I was thinking just the same,

Sounds like you have a fan who echoes your response igglepiggle and also someone who can't think for themselves. "Oh I do so love you igglepiggle", "yes and I love you more pikestones". You both sound like rejects from Brokeback Mountain. :)

Dave

Hi

Many thanks for the support and encouraging comments from adzmcp, DanGull, Amie07, Early-1800, blade and (AndrewL - though your comment about leaving the house was well misplaced). Thanks to all of you, I've decided to continue with the order and will see it through until I take delivery of the car which, I'm sure, will turn out to be just fine.

With regard to the rather rude and unsupportive comments from igglepiggle, which were seconded by pikestones; your comments were less than useless and, if you can't say anything remotely sensible and supportive, then please don't say anything at all.

When I posted posted my earlier comments, my aim was to simply highlight the faults that many other Fiesta owner's had had with their cars and that a major car manufacturer such as Ford should not be releasing cars with these types of faults, some of which were quite serious faults which you would not expect to see on such a new model and, having said that, like many other potential buyers of the Fiesta, I don't particularly want to spend a substantial amount of my 'hard-earned' money on a car that, potentially, has faults when it leaves the factory.

And, to quote 'igglepiggle', (a weird username?), if standing up for your rights in forums, shops or in this case, at a Ford Dealership, makes me a "dealer/shop worst nightmare type of customer", then yes, your right that's me, and I am proud to take that title because they are too many customers in tnis country who just roll over and let shops, garages and the like, walk all over them. Now go and take your Prozac.

Regards and thanks again to those at the top of my reply.

I've been supportive in the other topic you started on exactly the same subject, its rather annoying you have started a new topic on the same thing.

Your worrying about somethink that has not even happened! You have after all come onto a forum that is going to attract people looking for fixes for issues they have with there cars.

Is this going to be wrong with it, is that going to be wrong with it!

You've even put the links up with what you think is going to be wrong with it

You get a thing called a 3 year warranty for any teething troubles you get.

My God heaven forbid you get any! :P

Just to reiterate what other have said, you're always going to have the odd problem with anything mechanical. Every car on the market now will have a history of problems which customers have experienced. Most people will not have a problem, but you will always get a bad egg. Just look at the Toyota problems earlier in the year, when everyone presumed Toyota's were highly reliable. There was even a story about a dozen Ferrari's spontaneously combusting in the past few months http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/11071047

Anyway, the chances are you've just been lucky with your past cars to have no issues, so it's understandable to be worried. But really you will always have the same problem if you worry about the reliability of every car you buy.

I've had mine for 6 months and so far I've only had a loose door seal, which Ford fixed in 10 minutes and it has been perfect ever since.

Hi

Many thanks for the support

and, if you can't say anything remotely sensible and supportive,

Dave_M

I think your problem here lies in the use of the word "supportive"

You clearly want to join this forum and have lots of people congratulating you on your choice and all hugging and bonding with you, assuring and comforting you through the traumatic(to you) car buying process you have entered into.

If you look at previous posts by Iggle and myself you will find them to be more than remotely sensible,in fact we often help solve in depth questions raised by others in need of help to source parts and services.

Hi

I've decided to continue with the order and will see it through until I take delivery of the car

If You have entered into a legally binding contract to buy a car,you cant just decide not to continue

In making this statement you show the level of your arrogance towards others.

Ford should not be releasing cars with these types of faults, some of which were quite serious faults

For the benefit of me and perhaps others on this board, could you please advise us what these "quite serious" faults were??

They certainly havent been so"quite serious" to force a recall.

Finally let us consider your "perfect" corsa.

Did Vauxhalls not have to recall 6086 corsas on 20 dec 2007 as

Corsa D

Description: STEERING MAY FAIL

It has been identified that due to a manufacturing deviation, the base material for the telescopic tube of the intermediate steering shaft may lack the required rigidity. This may lead to breakage of the shaft, which in the worst case would lead to loss of steering control.

Then of course there was June 2008 when the factory put the wrong hydraulic fluid in the brakes on the corsas, causing what vauxhall mildly termed "An unexpected loss of braking power".

Why did you buy a corsa with all these known (life threatening)faults??

Perhaps you should read amies post ,as she points out 2600 fiesta 7s are built in europe EVERY DAY,which equates to 600,000 a year, you have found about half a dozen with minor faults!!

Hi lmclaney

Many thanks for your welcome feedback.

pikestones: You don't have talk a load of c**p!

iggledeypiggledey: Same goes for you m8!

I believe in researching products that I am thinking about buying so that when I make the purchase, in this case, a Fiesta, I will be aware of any possible problems that 'may happen'. Both of you are the sort of people who will just go out and buy a product without first checking it out and then moan like hell about the problems and wish you had never bought the product in the first place.

Oh, and with regard to my "PERFECT" Corsa D, it was, and still is "PERFECT" and, as stated, as of today's date, my "PERFECT" 2008 Corsa D has had absolutely no 'recalls' or problems since new. I bet you've just trawled the internet to get that info - you and your m8 iggledeypiggledey are very sad people and I feel very sorry for you both :)

With regard to the comments from Amie07, please get your facts right before you start making comments to other user's - I have read her positive and sensible feedback - that's why I thanked her in my next reply so, perhaps it is YOU who needs to read MY replys because if you had, YOU would have seen that I've already thanked Amie and the other decent forum user's who, unlike you and iggledeypiggledey, gave good and sensible feedback in their forum replys to my post.

Now, please don't bother me, or any of the other decent forums user's with your constant verbal drivel.

Regards

There was only 2 common faults with the car when it first was released now seen to be sorted. We had a few come in with leaking rear foot wells and some where the radio freezed. After a few month they seemed to be sorted an no real common faults since then

When have I ever "moaned like hell" about the Fiesta on here,I would say generally I am one of the most pro fiesta posters on here.

I accept dont research in great detail the cars I buy,I look at costs per mile and service costs, but as to reliability I think they are all much the same.

I have owned 15 cars in my time,11 of which were bought new,I dont think I ever test drove more than two of them, never mind spending hours researching

I admit I bought my current Fiesta ,and the one before without test driving,or even seeing the spec/colour I was buying, thats just how I operate,I fancy a change, phone the bloke at the garage,do a deal on the phone, car gets delivered ,sell old car privately...job done.

I find the boot slightly smaller than I would like and the lack of split folding seat causes a minor inconvenience, but I dont moan on here or any other car forum about it,I bought the car without checking these things and I accept that.

I dont regret buying the car at all.

You clearly have an issue with your Corsa you are not sharing with us,Given it is so good and VX now offer a 100k lifetime warranty, why are you moving over to a fault ridden Ford.

You still havent responded to my challenge and pointed out all the "quite serious faults",

thanks to ADZMCP ,we have a leaking footwell(resolved over 12 months ago) and frozen radio,

mine had the well documented missing carpet clips (valencia build),

Hardly on a par with collapsing steering collums and brakes filled with the wrong fluid.

You personally may find my posts "constant verbal drivel" but I have never had to resort to using swear words with asterisks in them to by pass the auto censor.

I would personally refer to my posts as being "consistently factual and objective",rather than "unresearched, subjective and attention seeking " as yours seem to be.

The only fault I have found with the Fiesta are forum "discussions" that get out of hand

Hi Andy

Thanks for your input and yes, your right, some discussions do get out of hand and certain members do get carried away and go "over the top" when giving their feedback.

It would be nice if all members gave good and sensible responses but, unfortunately their are one or two members who just can't let go or 'play nice' and, in acting in this way, they spoil it for the other members who always give good, sensible and constructive feedback to any other member who needs it.

The 'knock-on' effect of this is, that it will put off other possible members who might be thinking of registering for membership because they need good advice on their problems. So let's hope that those minority members might fall into line now.

Now, as I started this topic and have received 99.9% positive feedback from many well meaning members who have all been thanked by me, I am now requesting that, despite the fact that it has had nearly 800 views in 4 days and obviously was of interest to many potential Fiesta buyers, the MODS of the FOC Forums should now "CLOSE" the topic please.

I totally agree mate,I asked you to list all the "quite serious faults " and you havent responded ,other than to ask for the thread to be closed.

members who always give good, sensible and constructive feedback to any other member who needs it

I think I fall into that category if you look at most of the replies I give to people who ask sensible balanced questions.

Given you have been a member of this board for less than 2 months ,you do seem to have granted yourself something of an air of authority in asking for threads to be closed and asking members who dare to refute your unfounded allegations not to make any more postings.

Again I will ask you to back up your statement "Ford should not be releasing cars with these types of faults, some of which were quite serious faults"

Pikestones i agree with what you have said.

Ford do not make unsafe cars. Cars are tested rigourously to strict standards before being released I have had 5 fiesta's

1. 1989 (MK3) 1.0 Fiesta Popularplus (Burgundy Red)

2. 2000 (MK5) 1.25 zetec se Fiesta LX (Pepper Red)

3. 2005 (MK6) 1.4 Fiesta Style (Moondust Silver)

4. 2007 (MK6.5) 1.4 Fiesta Zetec Climate (Ocean Blue)

5 2010 (MK7) 1.4 Fiesta Titanium (Vision Blue)

I Love ford fiesta's as you can see. They have all had faults that were remedied and they were not Serious or Dangerous or Safety Concerning.

Any mass manufactured item will have faults. any faults that have every been manufacturing errors by ford are always repaired and that is from my experience.
