66 plate ranger ad blue problem

Featured Replies

Hi. I'm Alan and my first time on here. My wife has a 66 plate ranger and last week the engine management light came on. She took it too the local garage and they said it needed 5 x glow plugs andglow plug heater relay. The intake manifold and egr pipes were blocked. They charged £603 for this. The following day the management light camme on again. Being a woman she thought it would be a good idea too have it serviced even though it was only 8000 miles since the last one, another £428. They also put forty quids worth of ad blue in it. Next day engine management light came on again. Took it back and they said it needed 2 parts which ammounted too £800 plus vat and labour. These parts were apparently too do with the ad blue. Their suggestion was that they have a guy who visits and he remaps it so that the ad blue is disconnected. I'd appriciate any help with this my missus is tearful as this motor is her pride and joy. Many thanks Alan

Do delete adblue as it only fail next mot.

Sounds like they are playing for money.

STOP using this garage. Any idiot can play the guessing game with fitting parts when they aren't the ones paying the bill.

Take the car to a Ford main dealer (a different one if the garage you are using is already a Ford dealer). As far as I can make out you have spent over £1800 and still have the same problem. The garage clearly has no idea of what they are doing, and are just taking the mick !!!!

Given that premium branded AdBlue is £1.20 per litre, how big is your tank ? Most Fords only hold 11 Litres when full.

I agree

What engine has the ranger got? 5 glow plugs makes me think it's the 3.2 5 cylinder?

66 plate seems early for ranger for the 2.0 ecoblue
