I have been driving Ford since 1980. It all started with a Fiesta 1,1L, then a red Fiesta XR2, a red Escort XR3 with a reworked camshaft.Sierra 2L. Sierra 2IS. focuses and Mondes MK2-3-4.

All of them have dunctioned nice with no problems to mention. But my daily drive now, a Mondeo MK4 Turnier, 16TDCI Man. gives me sleepless nights. It all started last week when I was iut

driving on the highway, cruising in 100 or 110 Kmh in 6th gear. Passing a couple of slower trailers up a hill, my car suddenly started to nock, nock, nock like no diesel or electric cut off. No power,

parked aside the road and saw the flashing "engine failure" with the ESP sign. I think the car was only running on 2 or 3 cyls, certainly sounded like that. No effect from gas pedal. So, what do I do?

Park the car, walk home or? Restarted the engine, and voila, it run nicely like always. A bit afraid to speed, called Ford, they did not know anything. Please could I come for a OBD check. Ok, car run

and I reached Ford garage with no problems. No diagnostic errors. No nothing. They drove the car and looked everywhere, but no solution. So, they adviced me to just drive it daily and if something

should happend again to contact them for a diagnostic test again without stopping the engine.

Is it really correct that the engine failure codes will disappear by restarting the engine?

Have you ever experienced such a sudden engine stop and why? A "million" sensors etc. could ofcourse make life difficult.

The car has had all services and repairs at the Ford dealer and its only got 171000km on the clock. Model year 2014 registered late 2013.

I believ the engine is a PSA, citroen/Peugeot product also used by Volvo. I have tried to google this topic and found problems with the ABS/ESP HCU unit, Could it be culprit?

As Im know writing a whole lot to you I will also mentioned another problem I have had since the car was almost new. The steeringwheel is shaking,All the time. Have tried other tires and rims.

All wheels suspension and angles have been controlled by Ford twice. Have you any tip? can it be the wheel bearings, controlarms etc

But despite the above i like my Mondeo, its very economical, good space, small engine but fast enough for me.

Nice to be part of your club  and to share problems. I like wworking with my cars and the other one is a 24 year old Isuzu Trooper 3.0TDI. So naturally i am a member of ITOCUK.Isuzu Trooper

owners club UK.

Thank you and best regards
