My gearbox keeps getting stuck in 1gear. The lights on the dash (P R N D S) start flashing and it gets stuck. Not necessarily the same gear all the time. Will clear sometimes and other times I have to stop and turn off the engine for a while then it’s fine again for a little while.

    When was the fluid last changed?

    Could be just a selector issue or could be a sticking solenoid

    127000 miles. Not fluid as that would be a consistent fault rather than intermittent. Definitely electrical not mechanical.

    Not necessarily as the fluid behaves much different between hot & cold and dirty & clean

    Anyway, I think you've answered your own issue, so I'm out
