Start/Stop? is it fitted

Hi, my daughter has a 2019, 1.6 Focus, the V5C shows it as a Titanium X Auto, Euro 6 AG

She is having issues with the battery going flat.  I have been looking at the best place to buy a replacement but every place I check only shows Batteries that are for Start/Stop fitment but she says that she does not have this feature.  I cannot get access to the car until next weekend so cannot have a good look over but I have not noticed a similar button to that in my wife's Fiesta.  Is there a way to find out the facts about this car, a vin/vrn decode?

regards

She doesn't, there is no 1.6 auto by 2019 only 1.0

A 2019 Focus would have stop start

Thanks, but all battery options from the normal online retailers show only a start/stop fitment

for instance, this is the only battery that Halfords list

It won't be a 1.6 Focus at 2019.  It'll be 1.5.  Is it petrol or diesel?

There should be a button like this, bottom left, if it has SS fitted.

Misc Controls

You can also put the reg into this website for a free check.  Just scroll down past the 'paid for' stuff.

Yes, you are correct, it is a 1.5.  According to that site it does have Stop/Start

Your daughter is almost correct stating it doesn't have the stop/start feature. There are 100s of threads on this forum dealing with that system not working. It's one of the worst things Ford ever tried to introduce, and they only developed it to aid them passing some emission testing for new cars and trying to save the odd dolphin.

It's very fragile, and often doesn't work in cars it is fitted. Many here simply ignore it not working as a blessing in disguise. Remember when you were a kid, flicking a light switch on/off/on/off before getting shouted at by a parent telling you to stop that, you'll break it!

Similar concept except now you have a whole engine stopping/starting whenever it feels like it.

If you do get a replacement battery, and start/stop doesn't operate as expected, don't give it a second thought. Most drivers can turn the engine off themselves when needs be...

The best suited battery for the Focus Mk4 (2019) is the Yuasa

Yuasa YBX7096 12V 75Ah 700A

This is the largest capacity battery that will fit the standard battery tray.

Best price is usually from: https://www.tayna.co.uk/car-batteries/yuasa/ybx7096/

Fit the new battery, reset the BMS and up the max charging rate to 95% using FORScan and you won't have anymore issues.

Fully charge the new battery before fitting

Ok, well she deff does have Start/Stop, she said not, but I fitted the Halfords battery today and the button is there.  Whats the best way to up the charge rate as my wifes Fiesta STline charges to 12.28v max due to the way Ford set the charging Or is this not really an option when they have start/Stop?

Whats the best way to get ForScan? I have the CR Pro for general stuff and OpScan for my Insignia VXR.  Also still have MB DAS/Xentry from when I had a Mercedes so not scared of diving a bit deep as long as I am armed with some info.

FORScan (for use with Windows Laptop) : https://forscan.org/download.html

It's what many Ford owners use including some Ford technicians.

The ELM327 lead is not suitable for vehicles 2013 onwards. It will partly work on some models but programming functions of newer cars may fail.

Use the vLinker FS cable and a Windows Laptop.

thanks @unofix I have just bought the lead you suggested.  Is there a guide on how to set the charging rate to 95%?

Not that I've seen.

Just search 'State Of Charge' in the BCM and you should easily find it.

You would be the first to succeed at doing that. Please post back if you manage to do it, there are many here that would love to get rid of Stop/Start

Yep, as I thought, Stop/Start cannot be deactivated only remapped out, by a specialist, if you can find one
