Humming rubbing sound when decelerating

Featured Replies

Hi can anybody help? Bought a 2018 ranger 6 weeks ago, love it but never driven one before so have nothing to compare it to! I'm coming to terms with the fact the engine is quite noisy especially when cold but there is a noise that's bugging me, when I drive down a hill say and I take my foot off the accelerator there is an intermittent humming rubbing noise that stops when I accelerate again. It sounds like tyres rubbing on a wheel arch (which there not) is this normal? I have 18" all terrain bf Goodrich tyres on, could it be the tyres? Just getting paranoid as I've lost 12 grand this year already on a crap range rover Evoque (never again (was for the wife!!))with a shattered diff! any help would be much appreciated thanks

Very probably. Big chunky tyres with big tread do cause quite a rumble.

PS: Check your profile you seem to be driving a Ford Model: O'Conor

Cheers unofix👍

I d say it would be the tyres , i had big chunky tyres on a ram truck and it was the same when it was idling , you dont hear it when you accelerate because it the engine noise over powers it but it is still there
