Rear Electrical Fault

Featured Replies

Hi all, I'm new to the forum so apologies if I've put this in the wrong place or this topic has already been covered.

I have a 67 plate 3.2 wildtrack that has developed a rear electrical issue. The indicators started flashing fast randomly when I had a trailer on. Didn't do it all the time mainly when wet. Now I have developed a problem with the following;

Indicators flashing fast when the trailer isn't on

Parking pilot check error and no sensors working

Hill descent malfunction

Abs fault

Traction control fault

Has anyone had this previously? At abit of a loss as to where to start looking. Hopefully it's just a wire rubbing or something with all of the faults coming at once.

Thank-you

You might have two separate faults.

Firstly is the towbar and electrics a genuine Ford fit or an aftermarket system ?

Do you have a multimeter ?

You are probably going to need to use FORScan to diagnose the the problems.

Excellent and even better. 🎉

Your car will be fitted a Ford trailer module to control all of the functions of whatever is being towed. The quickest way to find out what is wrong with the indicators will be to use FORScan since the trailer module and the body control module will almost certainly have stored DTC's. Do not use a generic code reader as it will not get the Ford specific DTC's.

The above faults are generally caused by either (1) car battery has a very low State Of Charge (SOC) or (2) a faulty ABS wheel sensor. You can use your multimeter to check the battery voltage across the terminals approximately 1 hour after parking. Check the voltage against the table below. The use of FORScan will tell you if you have a faulty ABS wheel sensor, and which wheel it is.

It's what many Ford owners use including some Ford technicians.

Thank-you so much for coming back to me again. I wondered if it was the battery as over the really cold weather we've just had it was slow cranking. Was planning on changing it anyway. So will do that to rule it out. Will order the forscan today 🙂
