Can't Train New TPMS Sensors

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm wondering if anyone has experienced the problem I'm having below.

I have two new Autogem TPS03 sensors fitted to the front wheels of my 2015 Ford Focus 1.5 TDCI Estate.

Using the Ford Training Tool, I am able to get whichever sensor I choose first to train correctly, but then after that, I can never get the second one to.

When I tried the procedure the first time, I successfully trained the left front tyre first, as per the dashboard sequence, but then the right front tyre would not train.

To investigate further, I tried the procedure a second time, but I trained the right front tyre first, opposing the dashboard sequence, but then the left front tyre would not train.

Any information that could help diagnose this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks for your time.

Paul.

You have to train all 4 in the correct sequence even if you have only replaced 2.

Thanks to @iantt for providing the information below.

Hi Unofix,

Thanks for your help.

When I first tried to train all 4 in the correct sequence, the right front Autogem TPS03 sensor failed to train, so I couldn't get any further.

So to confirm if the right front Autogem TPS03 sensor was defective, I did the process again, but trained that sensor first when the system actually called for the left front, and it trained successfully.

When I then went to train the left front Autogem TPS03 sensor (when the system called for the right front), it no longer trained.

Is it possible that the two Autogem sensors have the same ID?  If this is the case, then it would explain why the system accepts the first trained sensor, but never the second.

Many Thanks,

Paul.

Try Training one Front followed by one Back to test that theory.

Unlikely, but it might be possible. Try what John has suggested to test the theory.

There are at least 4 different Ford types of TPMS, normally identified by a large: Triangle, Square, Circle, or X on one side of sensor. As far as I know they are not interchangeable, so I don't know what your Autogem sensors would be.

If the tpms doesnt  have any display feature to indicate the pressures, you can start at  any tyre position  you like as long as all 4 are programmed. Won't make any difference. Only if you have a pressure display then You need the right sequence.

Hi John,

I did all sorts of different sequences, but none worked.

The car passed the MOT this morning, so in slow time, I'm going to get a garage to scan them to see what their IDs are.

Many thanks,

Paul.
