2025 Puma ST 1.0 MHEV Remap?

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I’ve recently purchased the new Puma 1.0 Auto ST (if it can even be called that! 😂).

I’m considering getting a Stage 1 remap and was wondering if anyone here has done it yet. What real benefits have you noticed?

I haven’t been able to find any information from owners or tuning companies who have completed a remap on this model yet. I even contacted a local performance garage, but they mentioned they’re currently unable to remap this vehicle.

Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

cheers.

Warranty issues aside, as standard this is already pretty near the upper end of remaps on the 1.0 at 170ps. Seen very little on it, even Pumaspeed don't have an option at the moment but their 155 remap takes it to 185 so might be worth a word.

Brief mention of a TDI tuning box here:

I see there's a group on facebook, don't know if you'd find any help there

Remember the gearbox is going to have to deal with this massive power increase 🤣

Are you bored of it already??

The guys at work who all had Fiesta STs then moved to Puma STs when they were still 1.5s point blank refused to go for the 1.0 Ecoboom ST.

Is it really that bad?

Seriously though, I wondered about the box. Perhaps Dave or yourself could comment on that aspect.

The box will probably be OK, it's not a Ford box, it's used on Renaults Mercs, Minis and FWD BMWs I believe

That rang a bell. I think it's the Magna Getrag DCT 300 as mentioned in this thread a while back.

I have to say I disagree with the negative reviews. I have had a Puma ST with the 1.0 since last year (having previously had Mk. 8 and Mk. 8.5 Fiesta STs). I will admit that I was disappointed on discovering that the 1.5 manual was no longer available for the Puma before I had driven the powershift ST, however I think that 1.0 DCT combo suits the Puma ST very well. Of course on that rare occasion that you can actually exploit your car’s performance on public roads, which for me is probably about 2% of the time the Fiesta ST was faster and sharper handling, and by extension the 1.5 manual Puma ST would also be faster (but not sharper handling). However for the remaining 98% of the time the Puma (1.0) is very easy to live with and despite the comparative power deficiency, it never feels slow. Certainly in sport mode the auto transmission shifts very aggressively, or you can stick it in manual and use the paddles if you feel so inclined. I think all of the ‘not a real ST’ comments are in relation to only having a 1.0 engine, which obviously has less power and torque than the 1.5, although personally I think there’s a lot more to the ST moniker than straight line speed, chief amongst which is fun to drive with entertaining handling and that I can happily say is still the case.

Real owners often do! (And sometimes disagree with positive ones also).  Glad you like it which is what really matters.

I've seen another positive owner review over on the fiestastoc.com site, intriguingly that one also had the handling pack which the owner reckoned improved the ride.

Presumably (with reference to the OPs topic) you don't feel the need for a remap?

It's a shame Ford couldn't have retained the choice, though.

Sadly that's probably about right these days! I was making a similar comment to my wife this morning when driving back home from a few days up the Dales. Where you could once concentrate on trying to find the perfect line, now it's just an exercise in pothole avoidance!😠

Totally agree about still offering the choice. The Ford salesman reckoned that it’s all about meeting emissions quotas and keeping enough in the bag that they’re still able to sell V8 Mustangs which command a much higher mark up.

With regards to your other point, no I don’t really think the 170 PS ST needs a remap.
