Folding mirrors trigger passenger door open warning

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm having an issue with my 2019 Wildtrak (Last of the old shape I think)

When you press the button to fold the mirrors, it triggers the "Passenger Door Open" warning and the interior light comes on?

The warning does not come on if you open the door when the mirrors are out.

The main reason this is driving me mad as in the middle of the night, the truck sometimes thinks the door is open and sets the alarm off!

Anyone had this issue before please?

Cheers!

That's quite an odd fault.

My thoughts would be with a faulty door latch switch. The little microswitch inside of the door latch (non-serviceable) is responsible for detecting if the door is closed and operates the interior light.

Alternatively there maybe damaged wiring in the rubber conduit between the passenger door and the door frame. A broken earth wire might be causing stray electrical currents which is triggering the door circuit.

Since you say this can happen in the middle of the night then I would rule out this being anything to do with the actual door mirror.

I'd suspect faulty door module or even a weak earth somewhere (not in the door, there's no earth points in the door)
