Mate of mine has bought a Ford Ranger wildcat (24 plate) and is wondering if anyone has fitted a lockable fuel filler flap?

Why would they ? 🤔

It has has a factory fitted lockable filler flap, unless that has recently been discontinued. It also has the Ford easy fuel system making it almost impossible to syphon fuel. Far easier just to poke a hole in the plastic fuel tank.

Hi, sorry yes ranger wildtrak.  Ah ok, my mate was concerned as if he locks it and presses the filler cap it opens and he was concern someone could syphon off fuel. I didn't realise it was difficult to do on the easy fill system.

The fuel filler flap locks automatically with the central locking. 

Lock the car, walk away with the keys and leave them out of range of the car. Then go back and try the fuel flap and you will find it is locked.

Hi, nope, mates one it opens even with doors locked, fuel flap opens if pushed.

That's very disappointing. My own Ranger Stormtrak 2022 model keeps the fuel filler locked (even with the drivers door unlocked). To open the fuel filler flap I have to have all doors unlocked.

Perhaps @iantt can confirm if Ford have removed the locking fuel flap from the 2024 model if he see's this thread ?

I'm sure the locking flap is still on current ranger. Will check one tommorow. 

Well, there isn't. Must have stopped fitting locking device around 2024 then. Certainly not on new ones. Checked via single and double locking on the remote fob. 

Something else that's gone missing 🙄

Even I've got a locking fuel flap on my car. Someone  would get a shock if they tried Syphoning fuel out 🤣🤣🤣🤣
