2014 PX1 Right low beam only, not working

Featured Replies

Hello, I have a 2014 ford ranger with only the right low beam not functioning. I have scanned with my OBDII scanner and no codes come up. I have tried about 3 brand new bulbs in it (halogen) and inspected all the wiring not seeing any damage. I'm at my wits end, I've had it into auto sparky's and no go. Just wondering if there is anyone with a miracle solution otherwise I'm stuck with just one light for the rest of this vehicles life.

Thank you for taking the time to read.

Tried just disconnecting the battery for 30mins?

I've disconnected it for a few hours at a time yeah as I've done some welding on it, but I'll give it another try and just leave it and see what happens, if I'm lucky it might throw codes (as bad as there sounds) after a sleep.

You need to use FORScan to read the Ford specific DTC's.

The problem sounds like it could be a problem with the BCM, but FORScan should be able to give you a code for that.

The dipped beam is controlled via the central junction box. As the other dipped beam is working ok, the switching before the cjb will be fine. So assuming the earth is ok and no power from the cjb to the bulb, the cjb could be at fault. Will find wiring diagram so you can see where the power comes from.

If this a fault with the control, a fix could be made using a relay to switch the RH headlight and connecting the coil of the relay to the LH headlight circuit.

I can't quite make it out on the schematic (eyes not what they used to be) but I assume that F1 in the BJB would normally feed the low beam (dipped beam) headlights on both sides, so the feed to the RH light via the relay could be taken from there.

Sorry about the quality. Will try again. Around 2014-2015 the wiring changed again by the looks of it.

Thanks Ian for the pdf. So it seems that on the 2014 Ranger the CJB, otherwise known to most of us is the BCM controlling the low beam headlights.

There are no specific fuses for the low beam, but they are ultimately supplied by F1 in the BJB.

So it would be possible to fix up a circuit using a £10 relay and some wiring which would be a cheaper and easier option than replacing the whole of the CJB if that is what has a fault.
