A previous occupant of our house left behind a number of car parts that they clearly did not want. 

I think that I have narrowed them down as Ford Ranger bits but would be grateful for any help with what they are, in particular the most substantial bit.

    Yes they are from a Ford Ranger, most probably a 2018 to 2022 model Wildtrak.

    They were most likely removed so that the Truckman style hard top could be fitted.
