Correct oil to use in the tropics

Featured Replies

Hi, quickish question. So I own a 2021 2.0l eco Wildtrak built in the UK. I have moved to Trinidad in the Caribbean for work and decided to take my vehicle with me. I have been here for 8 months now and my engine light and spanner appeared. There are only 10k miles on the clock, so I hooked up my Forscan and found that I have code P253F - Engine oil deteriorated. Now with this model having the wetbelt I know it has to be looked after just that little bit extra. I had a full service from Ford before I chucked her in the container. My manual recommends 0W-30 oil but the temp here does not drop below 20c and the oil runs at about 95c. So my question is - can I change to say a 5W-40? My worry would be the engine being designed specifically to run with the 0W-30. Thanks in advance
