Oil cooler removal 3.2 diesel Ranger

Featured Replies

Hi world.

Just wondering? Has anyone removed the oil cooler/ oil filter housing on a px ranger? I can't find a single video online.

I've got my new complete oil filter/ cooler unit , but the cooler first off , the two studs torx , middle and top almost vertualy impossible to get a torx key onto let alone undo.

That was actually my second idea after looking at the location of the studs holding the complete housing to the engine block.

Is it actually possible without removing the engine mount and starter motor to get these undone? I've dropped the front drive shaft as it's a 4 wheel drive, but next to some hopeful inspiration..I can't see the method to get the 5 I think studs out . Also not sure if this is because I'm in the Philippines but the spanner for these 5 studs is 3/8th ..we don't use old money sizes now I thought? So ..I've got a sloppy 10mm on the studs because I no longer keep old school sizes ...but obviously if needs must . I'll get one .

Any help would be gratefully received, I am actually a mechanic of hmmm to many years  . But this honestly has me stumped as it just appears so stupid how there is no room ? And no way am I using Ford dealership, even out here the labour and parts is bordering on mental.

Kind regards

Oh heads up ..I know 100% it's not head gasket, I've already done the EGR delete and cooler delete but still my coolant turns to chocolate milkshake.. engine runs perfect no smoke no power loss no overheating and a steady idle .. so I'm hoping oil cooler leak ?

Incase anyone asks why I'm trying to change it

Thanks again in anticipation

J Collin
