Should I even consider a Mustang convertible ?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone.

I have seriously been considering buying a Mustang convertible, but am seriously worried about the after costs to maintain and run the thing.

I would be looking to keep the car for at least 7 or 8 years and would be very grateful if any Mustang convertible owners out there could advise me as to how much money it will cost annually to run and maintain the thing ?

Thanks

Paul

Hi Paul,

Very few owners on here. I keep looking at these myself (though not that seriously!).

It's going to depend on how many miles you'll do - low 20s mpg (or less according to some reviews) is a big factor especially at current prices.

Service is 12 months or 10k miles whichever soonest and Ford dealer costs dont look too bad - I've seen £270-ish for a minor, up to £500 or so for a major. There do seem to be a number of independent specialists around also.

Cant see insurance being cheap, but costs vary so much depending on age, driving record etc so try a few sites.

(You'll probably get a response from @DAN@ADRIAN FLUX on here.)

I would like to buy a Mustang convertible V8 buth prices are putting me off. With prices starting at €145.000,- for a brand new one and 3 Year old examples being offered for around €100.000,- it is way too much money for what you get.

For that amount of money there are nicer cars to buy.

Wit the current fuel prices, I can also not justify the fuel consumption of a 5.0 V8.

I hired one in the US for a week and boy did it use some fuel!!! Even at there low prices for petrol , that was an expensive week's rental. Obviously an abused rental car but never seen such poor fit and finish on a car . Not done many miles either.

Hi.

If you do need any help with an insurance quotation for a Mustang then please feel free to drop me a line.

Regards,

Dan.
