Fiesta ecoboost zetec 1 litre.

Featured Replies

Morning everyone! Hope you’re all well. Only looking for some advice, I’ve got no one to ask about these things. Bought this car last week, 17 plate. Full service history, last MOT & Service done last month direct from ford.

Just wanting to know if my engine sounds right? Just wanna reiterate I’m sorry if it’s a silly question. I have no one to ask and I’m not clued up on cars, any advice would be great, thanks in advance, link is attached.

From only a 6 second clip, and not knowing the volume of the original recording, I'd say pretty normal for an ecoboost with bonnet open.

I’m under the impression it was normal, I know the video isn’t a great deal to go by but I appreciate the comment and response

Has it had the belts changed?

I was told it has yes. When the service was done last month, the oil was spot on, no black specs, particles etc.

I was going to mention the wetbelts but Dave beat me to it. Oil sounds good but it'd be nice to have written evidence of the change.

I would ask for proof, i.e., an invoice from a vat reg garrage. Otherwise, assume it's not done. A wet belt failure will almost certainly write off the engine, if not render the vehicle beyond economic repair.

I’m seeing most people saying, that a wet belt failure would show signs before it’s a complete fail?

Not really, the only real warning you get is the low oil pressure warning lamp coming on when running because the oil pick up is clogged with wet belt caviar.

But it's usually too late by then

If you don't have an invoice for belts changed assume it hasn't been done

We've seen plenty on here that gave no warning whatsoever.

Even if signs (such as low oil pressure) do show up, the engine and turbocharger will have suffered oil starvation. Debris has also been known to clog the vacuum pump for the brake servo, leading to sudden loss of brakes.

As already said, you need firm evidence that the belts have been replaced.
