tazz786
Hi all, Ive got a Focus MK1 (2001) 1.8TD. Ive noticed that well im driving its smoking alot. Even when the cars warmed up it still seems to be there. ive looked the problem up and EGR vavle seems to be the problem? Does any one know if this is the problem and if so how much would it cost to fix. If this is the problem can anyone please send me a picture of it in the engine so i could try and fix this and maybe a website where i could buy one. Any help would be nice :) Thanks

Any help would be nice :) Thanks Im not sure if this will help, but my old laguna diesel was smoky, I got the glow plugs done ( was showing a fault ), had the manifold cleaned out as it was all blocked up and had the EGR replaced as it was not functioning properly, cant remember if it was sticking open/ or closed, anyway after all this was done the car was less smoky. For cost I got the EGR off eBay, was cheaper than going to dealer, labour was about 2 hours for the EGR and they charged me a flat rate of £30 to clean the manifold ( had to be left in soak for 24 hours ) EDIT Just as an afterthought, the turbo seals could be on the way out causing the smoke

Not sure on the cost, best just have a search around your local area and se what they quote you, I got a friend of the family that does the work for me so get it quite cheap
