Water In Driver Side Floor!!!

Iv'e had this water coming into the driver's side front for some time now,it's been back to the garage 3 times now and still it leaks!!!carpets are soaked through,it's 2008 zetec 1.8 tdci estate,i can't seem to see where the heck it's getting in from,nor can the garage!!anyone with any tips please,thanks.

i think you are facing with leak or loose of water drainage pipe of drive's left foot side.

As much as i hoped it would be this leaking pipe,it's not,pollen filter housing was also checked by the garage,so anymore ideas please,thankyou.

try check hot water pipes of heater system, come from radiator.

it may leak some where.

That's right. If no leak of hot water pipes and it has the same water level of radiator you should check front windshield's sealing.

I heard someone made claim this part as of assembly defect................... :D

Well the car has been in the garage for almost a week and they can't find where the water is coming from,anyone have anymore ideas?thanks.

My focus is a 2008 1.6 tdci, and I had same problem, wet drivers side footwell carpet. After over 2 weeks and 3 courtesy cars, it was a bulhead leak causing the problem.

They said they checked all the most likely places it could leak,but still it LEAKS!!!

Sounds like the heater matrix.

Run the car til its hot and turn the blowers on hot full wack. Pull the carpets back and check all around the centre console. Most probably be warm water there somewhere. If so its a dash out job unfortunately (Well is on an Escort). Then best bet would be to replace the matrix and flush the coolant system before filling up again.

it is not something mystery. They or you can find it as there are only 3 kinds of water, 1. from radiator(heater system) 2. from outside 3. cool air radiator inside passenger room.

Tell them try hard more................... :D

Well it finally seems to be sorted!!!seams around the bulkhead,and also the plastic wheel arch trim was removed and the seams were sealed there too,it seems to be fine now"fingers crossed"!!.

Windscreen and bulkhead leaks i was told by the garage who did the work,it's all ok now!!

That will have been the cause. i had the same, on the passenger footwell, and was caused by a tiny bit of mastic sealant missing, on the bulkhead seal. My only issue was the ford dealer took 3weeks to even consider removing the dash to check this......

Should a customer express concern about waterleaks from the upper windshield area, one probable cause is insufficient application of windshield adhesive during production.

To rectify this concern, windshield adhesive should be applied into the gap at the windshield. It is NOT required to install a new windshield.

To enable a smooth adhesive application the grey flat nozzle needs to be reworked.

1. Prepare the flat nozzle.

2. Cut for adhesive application.

3. Using a file, sharpen the flat nozzle for better access into the gap.

2. Remove the polyurethane (PU) adhesive cap and heat the adhesive (see Parts Required) for a minimum of 30 minutes.

3. Apply the windshield adhesive in a continuous bead inside the gap between the windshield and the roof panel.

Using tape, to secure the surrounding sheet metal and the windshield.

1. Application of the windshield adhesive on vehicles with weatherstrip.

2. Application of the windshield adhesive on vehicles without weatherstrip.

3. Insert the flat nozzle as far as possible into the gap to apply the windshield adhesive.

Using a spatula, to induce the windshield adhesive into the gap.

Remove any excess windshield adhesive.

Allow the windshield adhesive to dry over night.

Water was entering here due to clear adhesive tape covering holes not having been aligned correctly during manufacture.

the rainwater was entering the cavity here,directly underneath the drain hole for the cabin air intake for the heater.

Body putty used to fill hole.

It took a lot of effort to dry the underfelt and it has remained dry now for 2 weeks.

Hope this helps others to solve their problems.

Also the wet interior will cause lots of electrical problems eventually.

Water and electricity do not mix.

I had this problem with my focus.. turns out the front window was not properly sealed. got a new window replaced and proper sealing on the window. this cured the problem. so its the front window sealing you need to replace.

I just had a similar problem on my 58 plate Fiesta Style. I was told by the garage, a ford main dealer, that it was a known manufacturing fault and that the water was coming down the A Post due to a lack of sealant on the welding. They knew straight away and have stripped out my car and had it drying out for over a week. I also took out a extended warranty but was told that water leaks arent covered by the warranty after the first year !! My leak was appearing in the back passenger footwell behind the drivers seat and there were no visible signs of it coming in. I am off to collect my car today so await the next downpour to see if it happens again. Mine might be a totally different problem as you dont say if it only happens at certain times, ie, when it rains but thought it was worth a mention. Hope it helps.

same prob here on my 2011 focus, i found this today i took the car for a spin got it nice and hot, came home left car running, pulled carpet back, could not not see where water is coming from with aircon on. so i put the heating on instead, after a min or so i could see where its coming from hopefully you can see my pics in the 3rd pic you can see water coming from bottom of pipe. it is not coming from the top like i seen in another thread. warranty runs out at end of month so i hope i am covered. ps i am a newbie so hope my pics are there to see
