The zetec s is a cracking car but the 115 vcti engine is not very responsive, but in saying that I've also had the 2ltr petrol which is not much better. The diesels are the best to go for but are much more expensive and there are not many around now as they have stopped making them.

Welcome to the forum Gaz,

When your awaiting delivery,is not the time to be worrying about performance. You should be doing that prior to actually ordering it.

To be precise it is not 115bhp its 113bhp, it is 115ps though, that PS figure reflects its power in German measurement of horse power. They obviously have weaker horses in Germany :D

The Focus 1.6 S is hardly a speed machine, though in its trim it is and looks faster then the even slower 99bhp bog standard 1.6.

The 1.6 S = 113bhp. Max speed 118mph. 0-62 10.8 seconds.

the 1.6...= 99bhp. Max speed 112mph. 0-62 11.9 seconds.

Now if you wanted to buy a new fast 1.6 Focus, you should have waited for the new Mk3 Focus 1.6 SCTi it is 150PS. Max speed 130mph. 0-62 8.6 seconds. It's £90 road tax against the £155 for the current Mk2.5 your buying. And better fuel consumption than the current Mk2.5 offerings. 47.1mpg combined against 42.8mpg with the current Mk2.5.

The Mk3 will be offered for sale this spring in the UK. Of course with this new model due in the showrooms any week now, Ford are offering good deals on the outgoing Mk2.5 model range. Of course not being current model when it comes to trading it in, you will take a big hit, but that's life for you. Look at me I've got a bog standard 99bhp Mk2 model

I agree the Focus 1.6 is a cracking car, and the Zetec S being the better of the two. But in regard to the the Mk2.5 1.6 TDCi its 0-62 is 10.9 seconds and it's 30-62 in 4th gear is also 10.9, with a max speed of 117mph The new Mk3 1.6 SCTi is 0-62 is 8.6 seconds, and the 30-62 in 4th gear is also 8.6 seconds, with a Max speed of 130mph.

And that's why when I eventually trade up I'll be going for the new Mk3 1.6 SCTi, in my current Mk2, 30-62 in 4th gear 13.3 seconds! I'm committed to going the petrol route because my annual mileage is low at 5,500. And because I always buy second hand, I find petrol variants suffer far less from expensive "crisis" repairs than their TDCi counter parts.

I agree that these new Eco engines are going to be crackers.I currently work for ford motor company at Bridgend and some of these engines are being built here.the only problem is with the model focus which has currently hit the show rooms is the price.I shop around for the lads in work for new fords at employee prices around the country and the difference in prices are massive.the new focus does seem to be a much nicer car though.for a top spec focus like the titanium it comes in between £17500 to £18500 grand and that's to an employee.hopefully later in the year these prices will drop!

Yes obviously I would be looking at Titanium spec'ed cars, as I was spoilt when I had a nine month flirtation with a Volvo S40 2.0D SE full leather, and a fair bit of poke to boot. But the wife missed the Focus, so for a quite life....

It will be interesting to see how they hold up price wise, in the second hand market. But in any case buying pre owned certainly makes the process more palatable.

Thanx guys for all the input with regard to asking bout performance and specs wen I went last week to browse the showroom and ask bout the zetec s I was told that due to the new model being out in march there was very few left 3 to be exact so if I wanted one I had to order it there and then so it was a rather rush purchase. As for the performance I knew it wouldn't be overly quick due to a 1.6 engine but hoping that it will be quicker than my 08 plate 1.6 zafira????.

Thanx gaz,

Thanx gaz,

Don't worry Gaz you will love it, the Focus is renowned for being a drivers car. You will be chucking it into corners like a man possessed. As for being faster, no worries there mate with the Zafira weighing in at Max speed 109 mph, and 0-60 in 13.4 seconds.

Enjoy :D

This article in Talk Ford indicates the line up starts at £15,995 on the road. Have you got any knowledge of the retail prices for the complete range, or is that supposed to still be a secret?.......I cannot seem to find a price list, or am I just not looking in the right place

Cheers mate,

Looks like the 1.6 150PS Titanium for me then, don't mind waiting a couple of years for one. I mean I can find better things to do with say £9,000 in depreciation. Than watch it disappear off a motor will sat on my drive for 24 months.

I don't blame you for waiting pal,I think I'll be doing the same soon.I bought a new ford 6 months ago for £18000 grand,if I want the same spec in the face lift model it's gonna cost me £22000.Don't think I'll be changing it pal.

Hi ,i dont want to open a new thread ;i own a 2010 Ford Focus Titanium 1.6 Tdci Vision Blue.I like Zetec S very much but here we dont have any chance to find any Zetec S(tdci nor petrol).I was seeking body kit for my car in Zetec S style. And i finally bought orginal parts from a ford retailer in my town. The parts've come but they are not painted naturally. In pictures i do think its painted to grey or grey-mix.Or maybe not painted i dont know.Zetec S owners i do need your help.Is it painted and which color also a close-up picture would be fine.Thanx ,tony.
