weseeyou
Hi another problem which has gradually got worse over the last 2 months is the starter. When starting from cold the starter will just spin and not engage for perhaps 8 or 9 times then it will engage and start perfectly. battery seems fine and the connections are well greased and not corroded. I cannot find the starter to clean the connections . Can it be accessed from under the bonnet ? or is it from ubnderneath only ? It might be the brushes I guess which is an easy job providing I find the damn starter motor !....
weseeyou
well I still have the problem with the starter motor only its a lot worse. I have found out it is probably a clutch inside the SM which is slipping. I've also managed to get the car on the ramp and found the SM . Its buried deep in the motor from underneath. I cannot believe that not one single viewer out of 93 didn't know where the starter was .? Is there anyone on these forums that has ever replaced a starter motor before can give me some advice please . If not I'll try over on the Escort forum :(
mintalkin
firstly remove the battery earth terminal, there are two wires to disconect from the starter, then three bolts to hold the starter in two are better accessed from the top. fitting is a reversal of the removal procediur due to lack of space you will have fun.
