jeebowhite
Can anyone explain how to change the front pads on a fusion 1.4 TDCi 05 plate. is it easy enoughb to do? are there any special tools needed? cheers I know its not a focus, but google "Focus 2005 Change Brake Pads" - there are two youtube videos that show you just how to do it! I cant get to youtube at the moment so cant copy a link, its an easy enough job. All you need is a set of HEX keys, some Copper Grease, new parts, large G clamp (14 mm should be fine) and a wire coat hanger. If you dont find the clip later, I will try and post you a link. Long and short, remove the wheels, straighten out the wired hanger, and hook it over the suspension and loop it around the caliper, there are two (I think) 10mm hex screws at the back of the caliper, you need to undo these. stick the clamp on, and compress the clamp against the caliper and piston, this will loosen the caliper. Take the caliper off, and replace the pads. Pop the caliper back on, after using copper grease to lubricate the contact points with the pad. pop the bolts back in, and turn the engine on, press the brake pedal a few times, and the pad should be returned to its usual position.
