Mk1 St170 Project???

Hi, I am new to the forums and also new to cars.

Basically my bottom end blew on my Millennium, which I only bought 6 weeks ago, last night and it looks as if its going to be a whole new engine job.

What I am wondering is, as I know FA about cars, would it be much work to put a ST170 in there?

I know it'll be alot of time and money but it would make a good project as it's a mint car and would be a shame to scrap it.

So, any pointers as to what I need / have to do for this would be much appreciated.

For the record I'm about 70% noob, if that puts things into perspective.

Thanks

Kraig

If you have the money to put an st170 engine in, you would be cheaper just buying an st170.

Will probably be cheaper for insurance on a real st170 than on a modified 'st170'

Got to agree with that 100%

It's all about the MK1 yellow and leather seats though! Plus the fact I've just spent over a grand on a car that now has a broken engine, how about an RS? Would that be much the same?

Yes agreed with the insurance, cheaper if you keep it as a Zetec on the book though ;)

why not buy a MK1 ST170 or RS and transfer all the bits you love from your existing car in to the next one then sell whats left of the existing one to the scrapyard or list the remaining body parts on e-bay to regain some cash, then keep the rolling chassie to roll on a truck to the scrap yard, that would be a good project,

park them side by side and transfer from A to B at your leasure.B)

Hi, that is an idea although unfortunately there's no way I could afford an RS, ST's aren't so bad.

Plus the insurance would be mental! (I don't have a huge collection of NCB's)

How about if, I happened to find another Zetec 1.8 engine that has been built with RS turbo, would that not hopefully fit right in?

As it happens I have found one, but I can't post a link for privacy reasons.

Surely this could be the cheapest easiest solution??

Cheapest solution is a rag in the fuel tank, followed by a match stick

then claim fire and theft,

get a cheque and buy a ST

On a more serious note though mate i know nothing about engine conversion's so im out ;)

Haha thanks for the input Lenny, the thought had crossed my mind. However the cheque wouldn't be worth it :/

I have considered selling as spare/repairs as the amount it would cost for a conversion I could buy something equally as nice probably, really like this car though! !Removed! situation to be in
