Hi All,

I had the unpleasent experiance today by hitting a pheasant. This has broken the lower grille on my 2008 facelift 1.6 tdci.

Lower grille is like this one Wikki link

apart from 2nd hand ones on eBay, any ideas as how much a new one would cost?

I have seen this one..... http://www.fordonlineparts.co.uk/product/Ford_Focus_Lower_front_grille_insert_%28to_be_used_with_above%29_-_2008_onwards_-_1529043_F1529043-168 . Will this fit mine?

Also, I am thinking of keeping to the original one, any ideas as to who sells them online?

Luckily the intercooler was not damaged (phew).

Thanks

Hi again,

Just another thought, If I go ahead and buy the one from ford online parts, does anyone know if the colour will match the orginal ?

Thanks

Thanks Lenny,

And thanks for the offer. I took the decision to buy a 'titanium' grille. The chrome surround will look nice against the panther black paintwork.

Very nice people here and allways helping others

Hi im sure Lenny will know but will post it up. With a bit of touching wood my new grille will be here today when i finish work. What is the best way to put the reg plate back onto it tho. Ive not took it off yet so dont even know what or how ford use the sticky strips or what they use???

Thanks for the Vote of Confidence Ash,

My reg was screwed on with two self tapping Philips head screws,

Ford has two aligned grommets in the grill to make alignment a breeze,

Although the plates are fitted by the dealers so they may not have used these grommets,

My dealer didn’t so rather than buying a whole new plate I just aligned the reg plate on the new grill marked out the holes, then drilled a 2mm pilot hole in the markings

This makes it easy to screw in as when you hold the reg plate up to the grill, you can’t physically see behind it to know if you’re on the right mark,

Drilling a pilot hole first means the point of the screw will slot in and you know its level then.

It’s easier to perform this action before fitting the new grill to the car.

Also their are white caps on the screw that hold the reg plate on,

To remove these jut get a small flat headed screw driver put it to the side of the white cap and flip it off,

I’ve upgraded to anti-theft screw kit from Richbrook Click Here although the stock ones you have are perfect, and these can be applied to the car at any time,

each to their own taste i suppose,

also please upload a picture of it fitted when youre finished mate.B)

H, cheers for explanation. I went into Halfords and seen if they had anything specialised for this. They did, I got a pack of 3 strips of strong double sided tape designed for reg plates, These cost me only £2.50 but i bet you can prob get the same cheap on eBay or elswhere but £2.50 is worth it if in need straight away.

£2.50 was good mate,

i purchased the same type of thing on e-bay and when you add postage on to it,

costs you the same as the shops really and you didnt have to wait for it to arrive.

Did you get the grill fitted yet?

No. Stupid royal mail still no delivery haha. Typical ,off work today and tomoro and I bet it comes next week. I will upload a pick when I've done it. You have the same as me style. Have you got the close down lid under your heater rings in front of handbrake. Or you have a gap like me. I want to get one of the little door flap type things but don't know if can just fit one in or not or where to get from. The guy who does that silver interior fits you posted has a nice one for when I get it.
