Hello I have a 1.4 Fusion 2 with durashift. 41000 miles, When I am pulling away at light or roundabouts I intermittently get a juddering which I think is gradually increasing. I took it to an Auto Trans. specialist who said I need fords to run diagnostic check £90,and that its likely the actuators. Has anyone had similar problems recently ? Where can I get diagnostic check and actuators for sensible prices? Thanks

Hi Teesee,

Yep, I have had a similar problem with my wife's car (same engine/gearbox config.)although on ours it is intermittent, and I have discovered, that, as she is an occasional user, and the car can sit idle for a week or more, at times, it most often does it when it hasn't been used for a while. A very good mechanic friend of mine suggests it to be one of 2 things. 1) The electro-mechanical clutch actuator....and 2) When left idle, a build up of surface rust on the floating flywheel, (just like you'd get on the brake discs)causing binding and therefore the clutch actuator to react as if momentarily it has drive then slipping then drive then slipping etc. so giving the juddering effect.

Either way, I have found that a short burst of fairly agressive driving and braking seems to 'loosen' it all up nicely, whereupon it is fine, and will behave impeccably..... until the next time.
