Was looking at a 2001 1.8 petrol, with 107k mileage (30k was done this year) the oil light was flickering on idie. When i checked the dipstick there was no oil. Car ran fine, No other issues Gearbox fine etc however needs 2 tyres. Whats your thoughts? walk away / the oil pressure would be ok at revs there for be ok? The guy wants £850 is this a reasonable price or should shop around? also is there a timming belt or chain on the Petrol engines? With the engine at idle oil light flickers( every few sec) so low oil pressure but under load does not come on. What I am trying to understand is is it lightly that there would of been low oil pressure when engine under load. Are they that common that I should wait for another to come up?
