Has Anyone Changed Mk7 Boot Light?

Featured Replies

The Fiesta's boot light is feeble, useless, an embarrassment. Black carpet doesn't help any, so I've added two cheap self adhesive LED strips and it's transformed.

Replaced boot light for now, but will be doing same as above shortly, led strip.

Got to say that the self-adhesive label on these LED strip lights was a bit of a lie as they peeled off the plastic boot side panels within the day. Easily fixed with some contact adhesive.

One of the strips had to have its wires lengthened so it would reach the LHS of the boot. Very easy to hide the wire under the hatch's rubber seal.

Connecting up to the power was simplicity itself. I simply pulled out the standard bulb, poked the LED wires into the bulb holder and pushed the original bulb back into its holder, trapping the wires securely.

I bought a couple of LED strip lights off ebay, about two pounds fifty. They were 'self-adhesive' (oh yeah?) but glued in place under the perfect-place plastic sides as shown here, work perfectly. This shot taken in my pretty dark garage with a white cloth in the boot to show things more clearly.

I also put the pair of led strips on either side, so there's actually light in the boot, but yesterday I pulled them out, refitted the blub, and put it back right in anticipation of the new one, all ready to go back in in no time at all :)
