there are many factors that can give the bogging affect a friend of mine runs a ford 1934 3 mindow coupe with a big block chev fitted at the strip it was bogging down on the line hooking up then going like the clappers turned out the problem was grip related a new set of tyers sorted that (this is a road legal drag car over 500 hp) if you want at acceloration i would personaly be chasing torque on bhp watch the revs the nxt time it boggs down and see where in the rev rage it does it may be a hole in your fuel curve (over or under fueling)if so get the map checked out are you running higher fuel pressure? also have a good check round your engine mounts had a citroen that killed the lower mount and that gave the same bogging feeling when i drove if hard when did the car last have a clutch if its slips before it grabs again you will get the same affect

i fitted a 2.0 zetec in my mates escort gti a phew year back uprated the cluch, cooling system, stainless exhaust system, ported throttle body and colins power chip that was very similar but once we fitted a fse boost valve it seemed to cure the problem witch is why i think it may be fuel related hope this helps good luck

 thourght the st170 wasn't turbo charged ??

ok mate, just the spooling of the turbo or time it takes to reach top preissure can cause turbo lag, on any turbo

then when it picks up you get the kick of boost, fitting a dump valve system would help the turbo reach top running speed quicker

but its pointless buying one unless you know for sure that is the problem, i sympathise with you mate you have put alot of work in to that motor hope its easy fixed for you.
