Heating Problems

I have a Ford Fiesta 55 reg and my heaters are making a screeching noise. I have been told that I may need a new heater blower motor, but is this an expensive thing? Is this definitely what I need? I dont want to waste money and find out I still have the problem.

The car still heats up, but just makes an intermittent screeching noise when doing so - some days it doesnt even make the noise at all, but other days the sreeching is so bad, I have to turn the settings down to 0 and have no heat or cool air coming into the car at all!!

it sounds like the bearing on the motor shaft is running dry, you may be able to remove the motor and try some lubricant on the bearing or it may need a new motor, without inspection its hard to say
