Fitting A Egr Blanking Plate

hiya everyone im new to this site so here goes my first post, i have a mondeo mk3 2.0 tddi and was wondering is it worth fitting this egr blanking plate? a few people have told me it makes it run better and better fuel consumption? and also cant i just simply fit it i aint got to clean nothing out? just a few things i heard from friends and google, all the best

Its most likely people either havent done it, or anybody that has, hasn't been on the site today.

Lets hope someone who has experience of diesels (ive never owned one, so sorry I cant help) comes along who is willing to over look your last post.

And remember it was your first post and no intro. We do get a lot of 1 post specialists who only drop by when they have an issue and are of no help to anybody themselves.

Its not something I have had done, and most folk dont do itseems to be fraught with problems ,some cars run better other throw up all sorts of ECU faults.

never had a problem with the EGR valve but then my car never does a journey of less than 25 miles, short journeys allow a build up of carbon

I have a 2002 mk3 diesel mondeo,which was running rough.Ifitted a blanking plate (eBay £3.00).Fitting is easy (10 minutes) Loosen the 2 bolts on the side of the egr valve were the solid chrome pipe fits ,slide in the plate and retighten.No need to clean anything.Your egr should be same as mine vacuum controlled,so no problems,car now runs great.

i am not a one post specialist i am a beginner mate i know nothing about cars so am unable to offer any help to others yet but soon as i start getting knowledge i will be sure to pass it on on this site i promise that

I fitted the egr blanking plate last night and was pretty easy, i did google it to see where it went but my engine was laid out different but then looked up the egr itself and located it in the engine bay, i feel straight the way that the engine is more responsive and less sluggish, i have been told it will be a little better on fuel, will soon find out, thanks everyone who commented

Nice one. Glad to here its running well. Its a shame they cant do the same with the later models without the EM light coming on.

.i did hear though something about drilling a small hole in blanking plate stops the eml, im not sure how true this is, once again thanks everyone for the help

i have saw them listed on eBay with the hole in them, and i could never figure out why they would manufacture a blanking plate and then put a hole in it, so that must be why.
