Rain Sensor

2009 focus mk3 doesn't have auto headlight and auto wipers.

Headlight control module(with auto position), rain sensor, auto wiper stalk, auto dimming rear view mirror are ready.

How to connect these components?

I know the new loom should be made and I can do it myself.

I just want to know how to make the new loom for connecting these components.

Im assuming you believe the wiring is already there? If so i doubt it youll find most functions need switched on via the module and you cant do that the auto lights require a windscreen mounted sensor as well as the dial with auto function and a relay you would spend hundreds buying sensors and relays alone.

Even if you buy these parts the wiring is intricate the auto lights require extra wires from the switch to the fuse to the relay to the sensor to the headlight wiring and even then ford would need to activa it for you

Remove front interior curtesy light and probe around see if the wiring exists.

But like Ascot has said , even if the wiring is there , then it probably won't be switched on in the GEM or ECU , and from what is i see Dealers either know very little apart from uploading , activating stuff they are far from helpfull.

I quite like the auto headlights but to be honest I could do without the auto sensing wipers. You still have to switch it on and off manually as you dont want them wiping automatically when you have dried muck on the screen and you end up adjusting the sensitivity almost as much as you would the manual speed anyway.

thanks for your reply, I know the extra wires will be needed, and I know it is the complex job.

But now everything is ready, I want to have a try, maybe I can setup the loom for everything by myself, then ask for specialist to switch the function on GEM.

So, if you have some ideas for these extra wires, please tell me.

DIY is the funny work. I like it.

thanks again.

thanks for your reply. I have checked the wires in curtesy, there are no wires exists.

there is the function "auto headlight" control in GEM, maybe this function should be switch on in GEM via IDS like cruise control.

But the first thing , wires connected should be done.

I searched internet, I found someone made the dash loom for light control module, rain sensor and auto dimming rear view mirror.

If you havent got auto headlights fitted you wont be able to. I think only the Sport and Titanium models came with auto lights as standard. Possibly the ST and RS versions also. There is an additional position on the headlight switch for Auto.

I think the auto lights work by a light sensor usually fitted to the top of the dashboard so you will need that. I think your best bet would be to try to get a wiring diagram and get the parts from a written off vehicle at a breakers yard if possible, any you may still need the ECU to be programmed before it will work. To be honest I think you are going to have a lot of headaches and expense for the sake of turning a switch.

Actually, the rain sensor has two functions, detecting rain and light. Everything is ready, including light control module(with auto position), sensor, sensor bracket, sensor mounting etc.

You are right, wiring diagrams should be needed. I also tried to search the diagrams. But now nothing to be got.

ps: all the tries are interesting things. I hope some helps will be come.
