Hi All,

I noticed a noise when I reversed up a hill and when I had to do a hill start. It is a high pitched whine that in hind sight seems like a clutch issue. It is a 1.8 petrol MK1 facelift Focus with 46k on the clock.

Any suggestions welcome!

It's not the gearbox whine that you expect in reverse!! It's basically when the clutch is under load....

with it only happening in reverse without hearing it its very difficult to say mate if it was the clutch ide expect it in all gears so it may be a gearbox whine

I'd check the gearbox.

A worn lay shaft bearing will make that noise.

mine did that, I just left it, didnt seem to do much. It's not why i changed the clutch but after my clutch was changed the sound doesnt happen anymore
