Focus Running Problem

Help please before my 03 focus gets crushed ! I have an 03 focus 1.6 zetec, nothing special just a bog standard ex mobility car with 59,000miles. I have an annoying fault, it loses all its power at random intervals. It has been in my workshop for months. When driving it goes perfectly with no problem then without warning the engine loses all its power. Switch off wait a few minutes then on again and everything is back to normal. Have plugged in and when the problem arrises the ecu swings the timing to as far retarded as possible as if trying to sort out an engine knock. Have tried unplugging knock sensor and that makes no difference, have replaced the knock sensor, the TDC sensor, have replaced the fuel pump, both fuel pump relays and the ecu relay, and now we have replaced the ecu. Nothing makes any difference. Anyone out the got any suggestions please

have you tried the speed sensor to the gearbox its common for this to cause issues such as cutting out when slowing down

other than that there was an issue where some of the dash clusters were causing issues last resort an ecu fault
