Mot - Failed, What Parts Do I Need?

Hi

My car (Ford Focus 1.8 Saloon Mk1 2001) failed its MOT and I'm sourcing some parts but don't know what I'm looking for.

1) Does anyone have any idea what parts are required for the following please?

  1. Offside front anti-roll bar linkage has excessive play in a ball joint.
  2. N/S and O/S trailing arm rubber bush deteriorated resulting in excessive movement.
  3. N/S and O/S front lower suspension arm ball joint dust cover excessively deteriorated so that it no longer prevents the ingress of dirt.

In No. 3, is the dust cover part of the ball joint and therefore a new ball joint would be needed as I can't find anywhere on the internet that sells a dust cover.

If you could advise on the parts please, I would be grateful.

I would say you may as well replace the wishbones/suspension arms to cover 2 & 3. You can get the pair for £45ish (something like this http://www.ebay.co.u...157662370010123).

I have just done mine on a MK2 this weekend.

As for 1. I dont think you can just replace one of the ball joints. If it was me I would replace both sides at the same time (http://www.ebay.co.u...=item439c412eba) and the get the tracking sorted.

Edit: Almost forgot, I think you need new bolts for the wishbones, not 100% sure though.

I need to replace the wishbone bushes on my Fiesta, the MOT guy was 'friendly' and said get them done in my own time sorta thing.... They have a couple of thousand miles left in them yet though. Exactly as ajt said you're better to buy new wishbones on eBay, much less work than trying to get out the old bushes and essentially you are taking the wishbones out of the car anyway. Not worth all the extra hassle replacing just the bushes when you aren't saving that much.

AFAIK the bolts can only be used again once as they stretch and are under a lot of pressure, they aren't that expensive and you may get them in the kit on eBay. If not they can be bought seperately.
