Alloy Gators

Just checking if anyone's ever used them, and also to see what people think.

I've bought some 17" Streetpack alloys, 2 of which will require a refurb. Once they're nice & shiny I'd like to keep them this way so these look ideal.

So my question is, what colour? I have a white car so I'd choose between:

  • Black (would not be noticeable)
  • Silver (makes rims/wheels look larger)
  • White (matches the colour of the car)

In my opinion they look tacky and I'd never have them on my car. Can't you just not scrape the curb when parking?. Also, wouldn't the wheels need rebalancing afterwards?

Knew there'd be one :P If we lived in a perfect world, yes. But accidents do happen.

Silver or black, probably black if honest. As said, they look tacky (as do all other kinds) so you want them to blend rather than stick out like a sore thumb, they'd look almost non-existent in black which is what I may consider myself actually.

hello all,

Sorry to resurrect an old post. I have just become the proud owner of my first car, a beautiful black Fiesta ST which honestly, I can't stop smiling about. :D

Being a new driver though, I'm paranoid about curbing the alloys so I'm thinking of getting some alloygators fitted. I just wondered if anyone had a pic of what they look like on the ST alloys (I have the style pack).

I haven't found any pics on the web of them fitted to an ST.

cheers.

ah good man, nice one. I was tempted to go with red as i thought they might look good on the black car, but think i might regret it so will stick with black. Also looking at rim blades now, heard not as good as alloygators but an easier DIY job and should offer some protection.

A wouldn't do rimblades at speeds they known for moving or coming off and they stick onto allloys where alloy gators get hammered in

yeah i read that, also read it's due to people not doing the prep work properly prior to glueing, but i think i will go with the gators as they look a lot more robust. thanks again.

No worries and remember the after pics

Will do. Out of interest roughly how much would it cost to repair if I did kerb one of my wheels?

I kerbed my wheel and to get it powder coated would be 45 but it might not match other wheels so that's 4x45 = 180 to get them all the same
