The 0-60 Time For My 2005 1.4Tdci Is About 40 Seconds....problem?

Featured Replies

I think that will probably need to be my next step.

OK. So I disconnected the downpipe from the turbo and pulled it back a bit, giving about 8-10mm clearance. I started the car (it wasn't anywhere near as noisy as I thought it was going to be) and tested it. What a difference - for the first time in over 6 months the turbo kicked in and it shot off up the street.

I have subsequently resolved the problem with the downpipe. Please see the attached pictures of the catalyst - you'll soon be able to see where the problem was!

I hope this is helpful to anyone else who has a high mileage 1.4 TDCi that has no poke...

Thanks for posting this up, I was going to suggest looking at the injector seals or the fuel filter, my 1.4 TDCi isn't too bad with regards to acceleration however I can see how if the cat gets blocked it would cause all sorts of issues.

Its a bit of a shame that the MOT will require the cat to be in place for diesels if originally fitted so decats aren't really an option anymore - I am guessing that perhaps an 'Italian tune up' might help unclog some cats though.
