Kearney92
Hi I've just registered to the forum, although I have been viewing it for a while. I have recently started modding my Fiesta 1.4 zetec and was wondering if it would be worthwhile getting it remapped/chipped? What gains am I looking at and are there any down sides? Thanks for the advice :)
Dave-2912
If it's a petrol: http://www.superchips.co.uk/search?make=9&fueltype=1&model=1&variant=1918 If its a diesel: http://www.superchips.co.uk/search?make=9&fueltype=2&model=1&variant=1943 IMO, if its a petrol you have there is very little point. If you want more power stop modding now and get a car with a bigger engine. There is no point spending lots of money on mods and insurance to make a 1.4 which will be no quicker than a 1.6 when it would probably work out cheaper to trade-up to a 1.6. An unmolested 1.6 would be worth more than a modded 1.4 come resale time as well. If its a diesel, it gives reasonable gains but £400+ the cost of higher insurance prices make it an expensive option. Dont expect the jump in fuel economy which some mappers advertise either.
Kearney92
Thanks for the advice. Think I will stick to appearance mods rather than performance then :)
