for petrol treatment id use some magic bullet because it wont strip the libricant from the engine parts,

and for oil id use Castrol edge 5W-30 that stuff is liquid gold,

but before putting it in id use some engine flush in the oil 15minutes before i drain it and put in the Castrol

you may also like the peace of mind that is given by fitting a magnetic sump plug,

it will attract any metal particals in your oil resulting in less wear and tear on the internals

Hi, just like Lenny said Castrol Magnatec 5W30 full synthetic.

You'll need 4.5 litres.

no prob mate,

ive put all of the above in to a 1997 1.3 starlet and their was no problems,

you car may also benifit from a power steering fluid change too.

and as stoney says 4.5 ltrs of Castrol edge 5w-30

if you have a Halfords store near you, they sometimes give 1ltr of Castrol edge free when you purchase a 4ltr bottle so hopfully the have that offer on when you purchase.

I used Castrol Magnatec in a Proton years ago. It rotted the oil seals, caused leaks and put oil on the clutch plate.

I'm not saying it would do that to a Ford, but I would never take the risk again.

I use Halfords (Ford) 5 w 30 semi-synthetic and it works fine in my 1.8 petrol.

Castrol edge is fully synthetic

so if the ford formula f is fully synthetic then its all the same really.

Castrol Magnatec is semi synthetic

which is just as good at protecting the engine.

Have a read of this.

Sounds like a gimmick and surely the oil filter should pick these up anyway.

edit:

Also running those cleaning products in the engine did you see a difference in the liquid once it came out the other end?

edit again:

Hi mate,

in my opinion gimmicks are usually expensive and worthless, but the magnetic sump is just that a magnet in a sump plug, if their is metal their it will stick to the magnet, no hidden extras or dodgy wiring, just a magnet on a sump, and the prices some charge for them would barely cover the buiding costs,

plus the link to to a forum where people express their opinions with no scientific proof to back up their opinions on them and that can put a spin on any story.

ive had one fitted in my last car and when removed it had some black particals stuck to it, the car then went on to do a further 100,000km with no engine faults and regular servicing so although their was black sludge stuck to the magnet, it was not a vital part of the engine or i would have had fault at some point over the 100,000km range, i think its better in it than not, but each to their own opinions and decisions.

and regarding the wynnes engine flush,

i did notice that the oil was blacker coming out than normal, and the new oil that was put in stayed a golden brown colour for a few days longer too. but always read the label and follw the instructions on the can, dont leave it in the rngine for longer than specified encase it cleans too mcuh or somthing, it may be fine for longer than specifired but i wouldnt try it personally.
