Hi All,

am a new member and have an issue with my pride and joy!

I have a mondeo st 2.2 TDCI, there is a bearing squeek or belt slip on start-up and turn off, also on low revs if the engine labours.

Anyone got any bright ideas or had the same problem?

could be a bearing or tensioner at fault. you will need to inspect the left hand side of the engine as you look at it.

Thanks for the response, have had it in the garage but unable to pin-point issue, they have sudgested that it could be the master fly wheel and would be expensive!

from what you have said it doesn't sound like the flywheel to me.

The crankshaft pulley has a tendancy to break up and makes a weird squeaking/chirping sound.

in the early stages its a minor problem, more annoying. I believe it can leak to crankshaft failure though, its meant to absorb vibration and act as a damper. if its really worn, you might be able to see the pulley vibrating - this can also damage the tensioner etc so its worth doing it all together

ford sell a kit for this, its made by gates so you could also source it elsewhere for less than ford prices.

Its a bit of an awkward job but 2 hours max to replace everything
