Matt_Arnold
Hi Folks I had an accident the other day in the snow; I skidded into a curb and buckled the front wheel, looking at this positivity it could have been worse :P While buying the replacement wheel I got talking to the service department guy, we got talking about general maximum mileage of Ford Fiestas, and he seemed to think a TDCI engine in a Fiesta would only do about 120k, he blamed fuel injectors as been a common problem when the engines reach 120/130k. To me this doesn't seem like much for a diesel? How many miles has your car done? Do you think his view is accurate? I was hoping for something more like 200k... Dazza03
Hi, Mine has done 65k and its a 2003 reg. He probably just wants you to buy a new car. I have a friend who has done about 180k in theres with no problems, it passes every MOT and doesn't use any oil. Daz
shabazmo
My 1998 Galaxy has done 190,000 mles and the injectors are still original as is all parts of the engine. Just ensure that you change oil regularly.. more frequent than the 12,500 miles. Regards
hedgepig
120k max for a diesel? Somebody's taking the p*ss! That'll be just about run in by then!!! I had a Pug 405 GRD a few years ago and I bought it with 120k on the clock and 4 years later sold it with 200k--going strong and still returning 50+ mpg. A friend of mine has recently part exchanged his Cavalier diesel with nearly 300k on the clock for an Astra diesel with a mere 160k----reason for part exchange--needed more room in the boot for his gear! Don't know about the Cavalier but the Astra's done 200k now................ OK, so these aren't Ford but it doesn't matter--the principle's the same and a Ford engine is amongst the most reliable you can buy so.............hrumph............what a load of ********!! stef123
i know someone with a Y reg transit with well over 400k miles on and still going strong. not sure how much work its had on it over the years but surely not alot or he wouldnt keep it. One of my neighbours has a pug 406 diesel with well over 450k on it and still going well. a well serviced diesel should be bulletproof
