Slow Progress Thread

Hiya guys and gals thought I would make a thread on the slow progress on modding my Focus. Ive had the car for around 6 months and have been thinking about some slight mods for a while now. Car paintwork has been done, this was done by the usual process of removing tar, claying, polishing with a DA and a range of menzerna polishes and protecting my hard work with a sealant. The mods so far are tinted windows and zetec s alloys off a member from here over the weekend.

C & C welcome

Car is looking good Pete - just how long did you spend cleaning up the paint work? I once spent all weekend doing it and then it rained 30 mins after finishing the job so will not be doing that again!

Whats next to come?

All in total probably around 15 hours, about 2 hours prep, 12 hours machine polishing and then around 1 hour applying the sealant.

Is really easy to keep clean once its done, normally give my cars a good once over when I buy them then keep on top every 9-12 months.

Next on my mods list is a re map and getting the alloys refurbed although im not sure what colour yet then a fresh set of tyres

Thank you, just got to decide on a colour for them now, like gunmetal but want to try and keep oem so may just go for sparkling silver

Wish my focus looked that shiny now lol could do with a detail.

alloys look great fitted too.

Look foward to viewing updates on this thread as time goes on and the drl fog light surrounds are a very rewarding modificatin,

Preee has done a fitting guide and tge drls are E marked 100% legal and dim automaticlly when parking lights etc. Are activated.

Thank you, I have to admit I am looking at those DRLs as a possible mod, will have to see how far my cash can stretch

Well I bought 2 cheap tyres to keep me going as 2 were non legal on the alloys I bought off rh1no, and I wish I hadnt bothered, the grip is useless on them, although to be fair I should have known better!!! Anyway this will be remedied on Wednesday as the car is booked in to have the aircon looked at as its now making funny noises and the dealership will be fitting 4 new Avon ZV5 tyres, you may think Im mad for going to the dealership but they have beat every competitors quote in my area but amost £10 per tyre which Im chuffed about so soon I will have some grip at last, now all I need is the refurb to be sorted.

dealers are cheaper in my area as well mate so i understand totally though they have a deal with kwik fit who supply the tyres cheaper than kwik fit sell them for go figure

Tyres fitted, what a difference, car actually grips now :) Car returns to dealers on Tuesday as the air con condensor is knackered and have booked my alloys in for a refurb on the 2nd week of October, will be getting them done at the wheel specialist in Brum, have seen there work before, just need to decide on what colour to have them now, possibly oem silver or gunmetal

look excellent mate,

The flake in the alloys will match the sparkle in the moondust silver body.

A remap is 100% worth it too, like a whole new motor but still fuel efficent I've gotten remapped and still 58.6Mpg

I would lower the car though mate.

Lenny you have a Montune badge on ur motor care to explain

Thought it would look good on their,

They don't make anything for the TDCi yet but when they do, I'll be the first to look like I've got it lol

But I've tuned the motor up from stock so in essance it is performance but not by mountune.

I've got another one for the top of the air box induction lid, going to fit it on top corner of it next year when I get it hydro dipped in carbon print.

Ive been thinking about the lowering but have decided against it, I like the way the car drives at the moment without damaging my back, this may change in the future but for now its at the back of my mind, currently toying with the idea of changing some of the interior trim to the carbon look stufdf from the titanium range

Ok not much to update Im afraid, full service and mot coming up shortly so got everything crossed it passes, also insurance is due soon so not much cash around, I have ordered the mist jets though and am looking for some decent mats to adorn my car, maybe rubber ones which can be cleaned easier, finding my mats and carpet are sodden due to the recent snow were having. A remap will be happening just need to find somewhere I trust

I only just got into it a few months back when I had the full respray but love detailing now

Iv got the wolf chemicals hardbody waiting to go on jus waiting for the weather to fix up clayed n done a pre seal polish n then this weather hit lol

My Mrs cars a 1.8 zetec so a remap on that isn't gonna really do anything lol unlike your diesel though massive gains

Great thread, like myself, had the car a while and haven't done anything to drastic, but now I'm getting a lot of ideas from here, just not the money to match!

Can I ask you where you got your rear windows tinted and how much? I'm looking at getting my rear windows and the tears done, but not the hatch one, as I'd still like to be able to see at night!
